My day started at 5:00 am. I woke up feeling very excited for the journey that was about to begin.
We departed White Rock British Columbia at 8:15 and headed for Langley. At the Sears store in Langley there was a great a very emotional ceremony that was truly inspiring and motivating. We were blessed to hear the Sullivan families story of there son Finn I was so touched by the families strength and determination.
From Langley we rode to Sears in Abbotsford then on to Chilliwack. Each of the stops were extremely welcoming it was so nice to meet the people in the community and hear how we are inspiring them.
In Chilliwack we said goodbye to the other two groups and we continued on to Hope. It was an amazing 165km day. Crossing the Chilliwack river was absolutely breath taking. For the last 65km of the ride we were surrounded by the mountains and the water.
I’m feeling great and ready for a climbing day. :)
Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying the last of summer. I just came back from participating in the Tour For Kids (T4K). It is a 4 day cycling event that raises money strictly to send children with cancer to camps. It is the same foundation that the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride supports. The T4K is the largest financial supporter for kids cancer camps. I was shocked to learn that there is no government funding offered.
In the past 4 days I rode 620km. Each morning we were inspired by stories from families who have been affected by cancer. These stories were extremely emotional some were happy endings but not all. These stories motivated me throughout my ride. Spending 7h on a bike gives you lots of time to think. I am so happy that I have chosen this foundation to support. Knowing that 100% of all the monies raised goes directly towards research and giving families the support they need as well as sending kids to camp. I want all children to experience a happy, healthy childhood. I will continue to be inspired by the healthy children I work with on a daily basses.
The count down is on! I leave to bike across Canada in 17 days!
I have almost met my fundraising goal!
The event I had last week at Plunge! was a huge success. Thank you everyone that supported me. If you were not able to come any support would still help.

Today was another great training ride with two national riders my new friend Cathy Bancroft and my good friend Simon Willams. We did a 110km with some great climbs and descents. I feel so privileged to live in such an amazing training environment. We will be doing 150km tomorrow I’m looking forward to another great ride!
I feel fantastic! I just rode an exhilarating 80km’s with some amazing climbs and super fun descents, so I thought no better time then now to post my first blog.
I’m really excited to be part of such an amazing experience and I look forward to meeting my team members very soon. I am excited to share my experiences before, during and after this ride.
This ride is really important to me because I see how much support and love these kids need every day. I count myself very lucky because I am a teacher and coach and s get to work with kids and everyday I am inspired by them. I am thrilled to take on the challenge of fundraising and riding in order to support such an incredible cause.
I’m looking forward to start my fund-raising efforts and to watch them take off.
You can donate towards my ride by clicking the “Sponsor Me” link at the top right hand side of my blog. Or click here
Thank You,
Melody
